UK Sees Rise in Online Casino Use at Work |
| Playing at the online casino is all well and good when you do it in your down time. In fact, it can be downright fun! However, there is a time and place to play at the online casino and businesses in the UK are finding that many of their employees, 40% to be exact, are playing during office hours. A web security management program, known as Scan Safe, has recently been run at many UK offices and has found that there has been a 73% increase in online casino gambling at work. Now, granted work does get monotonous at times, and playing at the online casino seems like a great way to kill some time, but it does cause many issues. For starters, playing at work wastes time that employees should be using, well, to work. We all know that once you start playing a hand or two of poker or blackjack, the chances that you continue playing are pretty hard. The online casino is very similar to a bag of potato chips; you can't play just one hand, just like you can't eat just one chip! In addition to wasting work hours, certain online casinos can bring spam and viruses into the office network. This causes major problems for the business and is not necessarily a good way to ensure your spot in the office. |
