Vegas Casino Companies Back Online Casino Legalization
Remember the days when Las Vegas casino companies called for a total ban on the online casino companies? Many of these companies supported politicians – both morally and financially – who proposed anti online casino gambling bills in a bid to get them passed in the United States Senate. Times, however, are a-changing. More and more Las Vegas gambling companies are backing a call for the United States government to legalize and regulate the online casino industry.

Why the sudden change in tune from the Las Vegas camp? What has really changed? The answer it seems, lies in the incredible growth of the online casino industry that the world has been witness to. There is no denying that the online casino world is growing at a much faster pace than its land-based counterpart. If online casino gambling were legalized in the United States, the natural pattern of things would be for Las Vegas casinos to spread out into the internet world and offer their wares in cyberspace. These companies are now realizing that they might have been betting on the wrong horse all along and, with the legalization of the industry probably imminent, are starting to support a pro-legalization call.

Major casino companies such as MGM Mirage, Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. and others have crossed over the fence and called openly for government support of the online casino industry. Although official numbers state that 15 million American gamble in the online casino world, it is generally believed that the number is much higher. Those casino companies that stay obstinate in their anti-online gambling stance will, in all probability, lose big in the long run.
