Pro Online Casino Editorial in LA Times
A very pro online casino editorial appeared in the LA Times this week. The topic of the online casino is a hot topic in American society at present because of the attempts by certain politicians to try and ban internet gambling and the online casino. The law has not yet been passed and it is questioned whether it actually will make it all the way through to a final reading, however, as the bill struggles to pass through different committees and readings, the issue of online gambling is being discussed more and more by the public.

The editorial ironically asks whether the federal government has nothing better to do with its time than try to block Americans from gambling at an online casino and placing a wager on the Super Bowl or the Final Four? The editorial takes the common pro-regulation stance stating that regulating the online gambling industry, as is being done in Britain, is the only way that one can protect minors from the evils of gambling, and ensure that organized crime units do not infiltrate into the industry because of its illegal status.

The editorial cites positive financial benefits for the American government should they agree to regulate the online casino industry, through tax revenues. It also pointed out that it seems highly contradictory that the government wishes to outlaw some forms of gambling, but seems to legitimize others, such as state lotteries.
