Casino Gambling in Talladega Not so Convenient Anymore
Authorities in Talladega County, Alabama have turned a blind eye until now on casino gambling machines which appeared in convenience stores around the county. Although casino gambling is illegal in the county, there have been some questions raised regarding the machines in the convenience stores, with some people saying that they cannot be regarded as proper gambling machines at all. The most popular casino gambling machines, known as ‘quarter-pushers’, have provided endless entertainment for Talladega inhabitants.

However, Talladega Chief Deputy, Jimmy Kilgore recently received orders from the District Attorney’s Office to reinforce the anti casino gambling laws in the county and sweep the area to find any convenience stores which provided gambling machines as a form of entertainment. The stores were given a week to remove all casino gambling equipment and paraphernalia from their premises, after which time they would be subject to charges for possession of gambling devices. The Chief Deputy insisted that the machines be removed totally from the stores’ location and not simply unplugged or partially hidden.

Alabama takes its casino gambling laws very seriously, it seems. Anybody caught breaking the law could face up to a year in prison – a tough sentence for simply having some gambling fun. It remains to be seen whether the authorities will be successful in enforcing the law when it comes to convenience store owners.
