Will Italy Control Online Casino Industry? |
| The online gambling industry is going through a lot lately, in many countries around the globe. The US bill, the executives arrests, and what not. In Italy, as well, the online casino business seems to be going through some changes. As a gambling article claims, Italy this week has radically changed its position towards the online casino industry. It seems now that the Italian government is turning from total ban of online casino sites to a UK style regime of taxes and ruling. Only in February Italy was blocking all the online casino sites, and now it treats them completely differently. The government is tending towards regulation of the online casino industry. Starting the beginning of the year of 2007, online casino gambling, as well as sports betting and bingo games, will be legal in Italy. The sudden shift is easy understandable, as according to the new regulation, the government is supposed to get 3 percent tax of any online casino gambling profits of the online gambling company. There is still no answer to the important question, however, whether the US government's attitude toward the online casino industry will be influenced. Nonetheless, it is very unlikely, as it seems now, for US government to pass the Online Gambling Ban before the expected Senate elections. |
