For example, advertisements for Internet gambling and gaming sites remain as abundant as they were before, appearing in a large number of web sites, TV channels, newspapers, magazines and even in some radio stations. SpikeTV, Fox Sports, Comedy Central and ESPN are just some of the channels that continue to air the online casino advertisements.
“I think we will continue to see privately held online casinos offering their services to US citizens” says Internet gaming lawyer Lawrence Walters. “It just makes sense that in order to succeed they will continue with their massive advertising”. As a reminder, it is important to highlight the fact that the law does not make it illegal to gamble in online casino sites, it just tries to block financial transactions related to it. “The new legislation does not prohibit advertising, so there isn’t any problem with these online casino ads” says Walters. “The big question is how will the mainstream media handle these requests for advertising in the future”.
Another publication that continues to advertise all kinds of online casino sites is the poker-devoted Bluff Magazine. “We are protected by the first amendment, as we’re just providing our viewers with information, nothing more” says Eric Morris, Bluff’s publisher. “Besides, everybody knows that the law doesn’t prohibit gambling in online casino sites or poker rooms, so we’re not doing anything wrong or illegal”.
