Celebrities Get Behind Online Casino Poker |
| Online casino poker sites are currently riding a wave of popularity. In particular the fortunes of online casino companies that offer online poker games continues to climb despite the U.S. government’s attempts at curbing their proliferation. Also cashing in on the online casino poker craze is Hollywood’s film industry keen to portray poker as America’s game of choice. The most recent blockbuster to feature online casino poker is Drew Barrymore’s “Lucky You,” a story based on the experiences of professional poker players. Along with Barrymore, the film features Hollywood heavyweights Robert Duvall and Eric Bana, who reportedly trained at poker for months at an online casino to capture the authenticity of the game. Other celebrities are also participating in online casino poker activities for charity and starring in celebrity poker tournaments on cable television. Some such as Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have already proved their poker skills by winning sizeable jackpots in poker tournaments. There is little doubt that celebrity interest in online casino poker increases the industry’s legitimacy in the eyes of many casino fans. The U.S. government may be doing everything in its power to stop the online casino world from winning new fans, but with Hollywood on its side the poker craze may be around for a long time to come. |
