Online Casino Fans’ Favorite Poker Celebrities |
| A survey of U.S. online casino poker players commissioned by the World Poker Exchange, sponsor of the upcoming London Open poker tournament, reveals that George Clooney is the most desired celebrity online casino poker player. 21 percent of all online casino poker fans named the Hollywood celebrity as the person they would most like to play poker with. Other popular celebrities named in the survey included Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, and Mimi Rogers. The status of online casino poker-playing celebrities is increasing given the game’s exposure on network television. Recently a number of programs showcasing online casino poker have received high ratings with both British and American television audiences, boosting the game’s reputation as a fun and exciting pastime. Celebrities have been particularly noteworthy in increasing the game’s exposure, with several well known poker players such as Ben Affleck eager to credit online casino poker with helping them to perform successfully in land-based celebrity tournaments. The survey also found that female poker fans were mostly responsible for George Clooney receiving the top honor. Women were 20 percent more likely to want to play with Clooney, while the majority of male online casino poker fans chose Jennifer Lopez as a playing partner. Over 300 online casino poker fans aged 18 and over participated in the survey, which was conducted by KRC Research on behalf of the World Poker Exchange. |
