With the success of the online casino and the rising popularity of gambling, it is not surprising that many casino companies are trying to branch out. When the online casino first took hold on the web, many believed that it would be short lived, however, this is clearly not the case. Not only has the online casino become incredibly successful, but it is also helping land-based casino sites to re-build their success once more. One of the world’s largest gambling firms, Harrah's Entertainment has teamed up with Academy Award winning director James Cameron to develop a bid aiming to create a theme park at one of Singapore's first gambling resorts.
The casino firm intends to develop the new project using its Caesars brand name, and will call the future venue "Caesars Singapore" if its bid wins. Singapore’s government recently called for bids in an attempt to enhance its Marina Bay site by providing three luxury casino resorts designed to boost the country’s tourism. The winning bid will be announced this year. Already major international gambling operators such as Las Vegas Sands and MGM Mirage have put forward bids, keen to replicate the success of their live casino ventures in the Chinese province of Macau.
Once announced, the winner of the bid will be entitled to start work on the casino resort immediately. CEO and president of Harrah’s Entertainment, Gary Loveman, has stated that the opportunity to develop an Asian gambling resort is a unique opportunity, predicting the development will become "the gateway attraction for Asia". If all goes as planned, it is certain that Harrah's will try to take their enterprise even further by expanding their venues to the online casino world.
