Americans Against Online Casino Regulations |
| Americans love to play at the online casino; this is a well-known fact among online casino operators across the globe. In most online casino sites, US residents make up a majority of the players, particularly when it comes to online poker and American sports gambling. If so many US residents love playing at the online casino, one would think that the US would want to make some money off of the multi-billion dollar business, but this is not the case at all. In fact, the US government is so adamantly against legalization that they are about to pass the World Trade Organization (WTO) Deadline set at April 3, 2006. The WTO claims that the US, by prohibiting US banks and ISPs from offering financial and internet services to online casino players and the sites they frequent, threatens to destroy the economies of online casino providing nations Antigua and Barbuda. Yet, the deadline is today and the US, who constantly berates other nations for not "abiding by the rules", is not making a move to undo what they have done. In addition, the US residents themselves disagree with outdated US regulation that bans online casino sites. In a recent poll conducted by the Wall Street Journal, 85% of Americans stated that they disapprove of the current US legislation regarding the online casino. Why are they attempting to ban a form of entertainment that has been played live across the US for decades? If the US has yet to ban Las Vegas from allowing customers to play their favorite casino games, then why are they banning online casino players from playing at their favorite sites? Didn't the US entertainment industry bring the world shows such as "Celebrity Poker Tournament" and play by play action of the WSOP and WPT? Keeping players from playing at the online casino is not only hypocritical, but beyond that, it goes against the democratic beliefs that the US keeps forcing unto other nations! |
